St. Louis Blues (27-17-3) at Ottawa Senators (15-18-9)
|Date & Time||Thursday January 18, 2018, 7:30 PM (EST)|
The Line: Ottawa Senators -105 / St. Louis Blues -105 --- Over/Under: 5.5
NHL action comes to the Canadien Tire Centre where the Ottawa Senators host the St. Louis Blues.
The St. Louis Blues need to right the ship immediately and things could be heading that way after a late rally carried the team to a 2-1, overtime win at the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday that ended a three game skid. The game was scoreless until Connor Brown scored a shorthanded goal at 10:10 of the third to give Toronto what looked to be the winner.
The Blues sent the game to overtime on an Alexander Steen tally with only 57 seconds remaining in regulation and then won it on a goal off the stick of Vince Dunn in the extra session. Paul Stastny supplied a pair of helpers to lift Carter Hutton and his 30 saves to the win while Frederik Andersen absorbed the loss for Toronto with 40 stops.
The Ottawa Senators have been struggling for the majority of the 2017-18 campaign and need a dramatic turnaround. Ottawa headed in to their bye week with wins in three of four after downing the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3. The Maple Leafs scoring came off the sticks of Andreas Borgman, James van Riemsdyk and Morgan Rielly with Frederik Andersen allowing four goals on 32 shots.
Thomas Chabott, Mike Hoffman, Gabriel Dumont and Tom Piatt all found the back of the net for the Senators. Matt Duchene also supplied two assists for Ottawa who received a monster 45 saves from Craig Anderson who upped his record to 22-13-2.
Under is 7-0 in Blues last 7 Thursday games and under is 6-1 in Blues last 7 games following a win and Blues are 1-4 in their last 5 vs. a team with a losing record. Over is 4-0 in Senators last 4 overall and over is 4-0 in Senators last 4 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game and Senators are 0-4 in their last 4 games playing on 3 or more days rest. Road team is 7-0 in the last 7 meetings and under is 8-2-1 in the last 11 meetings in Ottawa and over is 4-1-2 in the last 7 meetings.
The Blues haven’t been consistent and the Senators are coming off a long layoff but I’m looking at St. Louis to build on the momentum of the win at Toronto…
