The Ottawa Senators return home after a pathetic outing in Buffalo yesterday as they host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday.
The Lightning play their second game in as many nights as they travel a few hours west of Montreal to Ottawa to take on the Senators after a battle against the Canadiens last night. Tampa Bay is one of the league’s best teams and so far they have played like it as they are dominating teams both at home and on the road and with a win here they would improve their road mark to 9-3 in their last 12 contests. Tampa will likely send Louis Domingue to the crease here as he will look to recover from getting absolutely shelled in his last outing against the Arizona Coyotes but with Craig Anderson logging consecutive starts thanks to the release of Mike Condon he might be running on fumes and take the spotlight away from Tampa’s back up.
The Senators started the season off with a bang and looked like a group capable of silencing their critics after many had them projected to finish as one of the league’s worst teams. However, Saturday afternoon in Buffalo things changed as they were smashed to the tune of a 9-2 thrashing against a Sabres side that isn’t exactly a threat to win the Cup and now they have to return home with certain question marks between the pipes as both Craig Anderson and Mike McKenna looked miserable yesterday.
The Bolts are a woeful 11-30 in their last 41 trips to Ottawa but are 9-2 in their last 11 Sunday games while the Sens are 4-1 in their last 5 home games and 8-22 in their last 30 Sunday games. This one figures to be high scoring and with the over hitting in four straight meetings this one keeps it going.
