The Tampa Bay Lightning look to stay sharp heading into the playoffs as they travel to Ottawa to face off against the Senators on Monday.

The Lightning have been the class of the NHL since the puck dropped back in October and are the front runner to win the Stanley Cup this season as they are incredibly deep from top to bottom and play the same on the road and at home. They head into Ottawa here to face off against a Sens side who is in a full rebuild and will be in the mix to land the top overall draft pick, but unfortunately for them they have to send their first round pick to Colorado thanks to their trade for Matt Duchene last season. Tampa is 5-1 in their last 6 contests on the road in Ottawa and they are 8-0 in their last 8 Monday night contests and according to odds makers they are far and away the favorite to keep those trend afloat as these two sides are miles apart in terms of talent and in the standings.

The Senators head into Monday’s game in the midst of a decent home stretch as they are 4-1 in their last 5 games at the Canadian Tire Centre and with nothing left to play for but pride and potential jobs next season the Sens could be an interesting selection here. Ottawa does have some young talent and plenty of their minor league players have bene called up to the Canadian capital for a late season tryout but they are in tough here against a Tampa side who needs to stay sharp heading into the playoffs. Ottawa is is just 5-11 in their last 16 games against Atlantic division foes and have hit the Over in 6 of their last 7 contests with the Lightning which accounts for the line being on the hook for the extra half goal with a high of 6.5

The Lightning are 41-10 in their last 51 games playing with a day of rest and 40-15 in their last 55 against the division while the Sens are 1-5 in their last 6 Monday games and 2-5 in their last 7 following a win. These two sides always seem to fill the back of the net and look for the total to go Over once again here.
