The Sens face a must win on home ice tonight as they look to keep their playoff hopes alive in a clash with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Bolts are coming off a loss on the road against the Toronto Maple Leafs – a game that was circled as a gimme for the playoff bound side – but the regulation loss keeps them a point behind the Montreal Canadiens with the Habs having a game in hand and time running out. Tampa Bay has four regular season games left and are still in the running to lock up the top spot in the Eastern Conference which would be huge for them as they're a much better home team than road team and it would avoid a first round matchup with the Red Wings who have a ton of playoff experience. Tampa hasn't played their best of late going just 5-4-1 in their last 10 games but are getting a great price here and on the road against a desperate Ottawa team.
The Senators were the talk of the league last week after they stormed up the Eastern Conference standings and into a playoff spot but as losers of three of four they sit three games back of the Bruins with a game in hand in the race for the final wild card spot. Ottawa has a very young team that will become one of the league's elite in the very near future but that doesn't mean they're incapable of getting into the playoffs and making some noise and with the way they have played on the whole over the last few weeks it would be nice to see them get into the postseason. However, the Bolts are still playing for a division crown and Ben Bishop faces off against his former team and you can bet he'll be out to prove the Sens made the wrong choice by trading him away.
