The Winnipeg Jets pay a visit to the Canadian Tire Centre to battle the Ottawa Senators Saturday.
The Winnipeg Jets will be lookng for two points when they head out on the road to take the ice with Ottawa. The Jets are looking to rebound from a 4-3, shootout loss to visiting Pittsburgh on Thursday night. Winnipeg rallied from a 3-1 deficit before watching Evegni Malkin and Sydney Crosby score in the SO to drop Winnipeg to 5-0-2 in their last seven contests while the Penguins won number six in a row. The Pens received goals from Simon Despres, Steve Downie and Brandon Sutter with Marc-Andre Fluery recording 34 saves to pick up the victory. Evander Kane, Jacob Trouba and Andrew Ladd supplied the offense for the Jets who saw a chance at four straight wins fall by the wayside with Ondrej Pavelec making 32 stops.
The Ottawa Senators look to extend their modest win streak when Winnipeg comes to the Canadian Tire Centre on Saturday. The Senators secured back to back victories with a 3-0 decision over visiting Minnesota in Thursday night action which saddled the Wild with consecutive defeats and dropped the visitors 1-7-1 in the last nine match ups with the Sens. Ottawa was dominant at both ends of the ice following a scoreless opening period with Clarke MacArthur and Mike Hoffman lighting the lamp in the second frame. Hoffman scored again in the final frame to take all the mystery out of this one and make a winner of Craig Anderson who stopped 35 shots and recorded his second shutout of the year and 28th of his career. The defeat went to Niklas Backstrom who was charged with all three goals on just 17 shots.
The under is 4-1-1 in Jets last 6 road games while the Jets are 3-12 in their last 15 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game with the under going 8-2 in Jets last 10 games playing on 1 days rest. For Ottawa the under is 6-1 in Senators last 7 Saturday games and is 11-2 in Senators last 13 games following a win while the Senators are 1-5 in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. Head to head the Jets are 1-5 in the last 6 meetings while the road team is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings and the under is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings in Ottawa. It looks like there are some strong trends that favor the under but I'll have to see who is in goal so please check back Saturday afternoon...
