The Winnipeg Jets go on the road to take the ice at the Ottawa Senators in Sunday evening NHL hockey.
The Montreal Canadiens were hoping for a spark with the hiring of Claude Julien but that will have to wait for another day as the Julien led Habs dropped a 3-1 decision to the visiting Winnipeg Jets on Saturday. The Canadiens looked a bit flat in their first game in a week with Andrei Markov scoring their only goal in the opening frame. Carey Price absorbed the loss as the Habs continue to look for a return to their early season success. Montreal fell to 31-20-8 with defeats in seven of eight. Winnipeg received their scoring from Mathieu Perreault, Patrik Laine and Joel Armia while Connor Hellebucyk recorded 19 saves to lift the Jets to 27-29-5.
The Toronto Maple Leafs possess one the more potent and explosive offenses in hockey but on occasion the defense and goaltending need to step up and relieve some of the burden from their offense. That didn’t happen Saturday as the Ottawa Senators had the explosive offense in their 6-3 road win. The balanced Senators attack featured a pair of goals from Derick Brassard with Chris Wideman, Ryan Dzingel, Mike Hoffman and Mark Stone also finding the back of the net. Craig Anderson got the win with 34 stops as Ottawa has now won four of five. The Maple Leafs received goals from Morgan Reilly, Nazem Kadri and William Nylander but Frederik Andersen was charged with all six goals on 42 shots.

The Senators and the under have been profitable so I lean Senators until I’ve seen goalies…
