The Philadelphia Flyers return home after a tough outing against the Montreal Canadiens as they welcome the Buffalo Sabres to town on Monday.
The Sabres look to spoil the party and take down the tired Philaelphia Flyers who are in the third game of a four night set and may be prone for the upset after an exhausting loss last night against the Montreal Canadiens. The Sabres were expected by some to make a serious push forward this season after a number of years in the basement and enduring a proper rebuild, but the loss of sophomore sensation Jack Eichel for the foreseeable future due to an ankle injury has put a serious dent in those plans as he is a huge part of their offense, and outside of a six goal outburst against the Oilers the Sabres have struggled to score.
The Flyers meanwhile were a playoff team a year ago and just came up short playing their way into the second round and they will look to build on that this season in the competitive Metro division that could very well feature five playoff teams this season. Philly has the offense to compete with almost anybody in the conference and do have some studs on the back end including Shayne Gostisbehere who is the talk of the town in Philly these days after a breakout season last year.
The Sabres are 5-2 in their last seven against the Metro and 2-6 in their last eight Tuesday games while the Flyers are 6-1 in their last seven in their third game of a 3-4 set and 7-17 in their last 24 Tuesday games. The Flyers go from facing Carey Price to Anders Nilsson who is making his season debut and that is big time trouble for a Sabres side that can’t score goals. Philly wins this one comfortably.
