Buffalo Sabres (8-17-6) at Philadelphia Flyers (12-11-7)
|Date & Time||Thursday December 14, 2017, 7:00 PM (EST)|
The Line: Philadelphia Flyers -160 / Buffalo Sabres +140 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The Buffalo Sabres visit the Philadelphia Flyers in Thursday NHL action.
The Buffalo Sabres are looking to climb out of the Atlantic basement and need points to accomplish that goal. Buffalo picked up two points versus the team ahead of them in the standings with a 3-2 victory versus the visiting Ottawa Senators on Tuesday that snapped a two game skid. The Senators scored twice in the third on goals from Cody Ceci and Derick Brassard but could not net the equalizer.
The Sabres struggling offense put three goals on the scoreboard in the second and that held up versus the Senators late rally. Evander Kane, Benoit Pouliot and Kyle Okposo each found the back of net for Buffalo who received 24 saves from Robin Lehner. Mike Condon recorded 22 stops for Ottawa who have dropped 12-13.
The Philadelphia Flyers have finally won a few games and hope to extend the winning streak when the Buffalo Sabres visit the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday. Philadelphia had lost ten straight before getting production from both ends of the ice during their season high four game winning streak that saw the team upend the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-2 behind a late flurry of goals.
Toronto received goals from Patrick Marleau and James van Riemsdyk with Frederik Andersen allowing three goals on 38 shots to get the loss. The Flyers offense came off the sticks of Claude Giroux, Travis Konecny, Sean Couturier and Scott Laughton in to the empty net. Giroux and Couturier also had assists to help Brian Elliott and his 30 stops to the win.
Under is 3-0-1 in Sabres last 4 vs. Metropolitan and under is 3-0-1 in Sabres last 4 games following a win and under is 7-0-1 in Sabres last 8 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game. Flyers are 4-0 in their last 4 overall and over is 4-0 in Flyers last 4 games playing on 1 days rest and under is 4-0 in Flyers last 4 Thursday games. Sabres are 2-8 in the last 10 meetings in Philadelphia and home team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and over is 20-5-2 in the last 27 meetings in Philadelphia.
I’m seeing Philadelphia play well in all areas and that has to continue to climb out of the basement in the Metropolitan…
