The Hurricanes and Flyers jockey for positioning in the Metro division when they meet up in Philadelphia on Monday.
The Hurricanes head into Philadelphia on Monday looking to repeat the effort they got at home yesterday against the pacific division leading Kings in what was the team's most impressive victory of the season. The Canes followed up a tough shootout loss to the Leafs with a big win against one of the league's powerhouses and now have a shot at distancing themselves from the Flyers in the Metro division as the team's currently sit tied for sixth with 17 points. The Hurricanes will likely go with Eddie Lack in this one as Cam Ward got the start yesterday as he will go up against Steve Mason who has been splitting time in the Flyers goal but is expected to start here.
The Flyers have had a tough start to the year and for a team that was projected to get back to the playoffs this season they have a ton of work to do moving forward. Philly has had a few tough breaks this season as they have already lost five games in overtime or shootout which is an extra five points they could have on their resume but the good teams find ways to win those games and on the other hand they were lucky to even find themselves in that position on some occasions. The Flyers are 3-4-3 at home this season while the Canes are 4-5 on the road which makes this a pretty tight contest with all things considered. However, Eddie Lack has had a tough time this year and if he gets the nod I think the Flyers offense will thrive and take a big home ice victory.
