Saturday NHL action pits the Carolina Hurricanes at the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Carolina Hurricanes are eyeing a third straight win after downing New Jersey 3-1 on Thursday. New Jersey took a 1-0 first period lead on an Andy Greene marker. Michael McLeod and Pavel Zacha logged helpers for the Devils and Cory Schneider took the loss with three goals allowed on 25 shots.

Warren Foegele, Justin Faulk and Nino Niederreiter supplied the offense for Carolina. Nine different players recorded points for the Hurricanes which made a winner of Petr Mrazek and his 36 saves.

The Philadelphia Flyers head in to the final game of the season riding a four game skid after a 7-3 defeat at St. Louis on Thursday. Oskar Lindblom, James van Riemsdyk and Claude Giroux scored first period goals for Philadelphia. Riemsdyk also assisted for the Flyers and Brian Elliott gave up four goals on five shots before Carter Hart stopped 27-30 shots in relief.

Alexander Steen led St. Louis with two markers with Ivan Barbashev, Ryan O’Reilly, Patrick Maroon, David Perron and Brayden Schenn adding goals. Jordan Binnington picked up the victory with three goals given up on 29 shots.

Hurricanes are 4-0 in their last 4 games as a road favorite and Hurricanes are 8-3 in their last 11 games playing on 1 days rest and Hurricanes are 20-9 in their last 29 overall.

Flyers are 1-4 in their last 5 games as an underdog and Flyers are 1-4 in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest and Flyers are 1-4 in their last 5 home games.

Hurricanes are 11-23-2 in the last 36 meetings in Philadelphia and over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and over is 6-1-1 in the last 8 meetings in Philadelphia.

Carolina clinched a postseason berth with their win on Thursday so nothing is at stake here. Something on the over to stay interested…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
