The Detroit Red Wings have won consecutive contests after edging Ottawa 3-2 at home on Thursday. Brady Tkachuk and Matt Duchene lit the lamp for the Senators in the first and second respectively. Anders Nilsson absorbed the loss for Ottawa with three goals allowed on 29 shots.
Andreas Athanasiou scored a pair of first period goals for the Red Wings with Frans Nielsen lighting the lamp in the second. Six players recorded points for Detroit who saw Jimmy Howard stop 40 shots.
The Philadelphia Flyers are looking for back to back wins after outscoring Minnesota 5-4 on the road Tuesday. Minnesota saw Luke Kunin score twice with Zach Parise and Jared Spurgeon adding markers. Spurgeon also assisted two times and Devan Dubnyk got the loss for the Wild with five goals allowed on 26 shots.
James van Riemsdyk led the Philadelphia scoring spree with two goals while Ivan Provorov, Sean Couturier and Claude Giroux posted markers. Shayne Gostisbehere added a pair of helpers and Anthony Stolarz picked up the win for the Flyers despite giving up four goals on 39 shots.
