The Line: Philadelphia Flyers -140 / Florida Panthers +125 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The NHL comes to the Wells Fargo Center when the Philadelphia Flyers host the Florida Panthers Tuesday.
The Florida Panthers stay on the road when the team heads to the City of Brotherly Love to face the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday. Florida saw a two game winning streak end in a 4-3 defeat at the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday.
The Pittsburgh offense proved to be too much with Sydney Crosby leading the way with a pair of goals with Greg McKegg and Patric Hornqvist also joining the scoring column. Kris Letang gave the Penguins a pair of helpers and Matt Murray stopped 43 stops to up his record to 3-0-1.
The Panthers offense saw Jonathan Huberedau light the lamp twice with Aaron Ekblad also scoring. Evegenii Dadonov logged a pair of helpers but Florida netminder James Reimer was charged with all four goals on 33 shots to absorb the loss.
The Philadelphia Flyers need to keep winning in the early going when the Florida Panthers take the ice on Tuesday night. Philadelphia comes off one of their best performances in recent memory in a dominant 8-2 thrashing of the Washington Capitols on Saturday.
The Flyers offense was overwhelming with Scott Laughton, Claude Giroux and Sean Couturier each tallied twice with Valtteri Filppula and Wayne Simmons also scoring. Shayne Gostisbehere and Jakub Voracek each posted a trio of helpers to make the 21 stops of Brian Elliott an easy winner.
The Washington attack produced goals off the sticks of Nicklas Backstrom and Jakub Vrana but the defense needed much more help with goaltender Philip Grubauer allowing all eight goals on 37 shots to take the loss.
Over is 4-0 in Panthers last 4 overall and over is 4-0 in Panthers last 4 games playing on 2 days rest and under is 3-0-1 in Panthers last 4 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. Over is 4-0 in Flyers last 4 games playing on 2 days rest and Flyers are 0-4 in their last 4 games following a win and Flyers are 7-1 in their last 8 home games. Panthers are 1-5 in the last 6 meetings in Philadelphia and home team is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings and Panthers are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings.
The Flyers have enjoyed some success in this matchup and following the big win versus Washington I look for the momentum to carry over…
