Thursday NHL action pits the Philadelphia Flyers against the Nashville Predators.
After seemingly righting the ship with three straight wins the Nashville Predators have dropped back to back games after a 2-1 loss at Chicago on Tuesday. The Predators scored the only goal of the first period with Kevin Fiala lighting the lamp with Pekka Rinne allowing both goals on 36 shots in a strong albeit losing effort.
The Blackhawks saw Gustav Forsling and Erik Gustafsson score in the second period with Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews supplying assists. Cam Ward picked up the win for Chicago with a 30 save performance.
The Philadelphia Flyers squeezed by visiting Detroit on Tuesday to end a four game slide. Detroit saw Dennis Cholowski score a second period power play goals with Jacob De La Rosa scoring two minutes in to the third. Jonathan Bernier absorbed the loss for the Red Wings with three goals allowed on 36 shots.
James van Riemsdyk, Radko Gudas and Shayne Gostisbehere each found the back of the net for Philadelphia. Gostisbehere and Riemsdyk also posted assists to lift the Flyers and make the 19 stops of Carter Hart a winner.
Predators are 0-4 in their last 4 in the third game of a 3-in-4 situation and Predators are 0-4 in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a losing home record and Predators are 0-8 in their last 8 road games. Flyers are 0-4 in their last 4 games following a win and Flyers are 0-5 in their last 5 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game and Flyers are 0-4 in their last 4 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game. Under is 3-0-1 in the last 4 meetings in Philadelphia and road team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
I don’t know what we’ll see from the Flyers given their coaching change but I’ll throw this out there…
