The New Jersey Devils look to solve their road losing woes as they head into Philadelphia for a battle with the Flyers.
The Devils look to snap out of their losing skid as they take to the road to face off with the Flyers on Thursday night and a date in Philly could be exactly what the Devils need to turn their season around. New Jersey has dominated this series of late as they are 21-10 in their last 31 encounters and while the home side is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings and the Flyers are playing some of their best hockey of the season right now this looks like a good spot for the Devils. New Jersey was a surprise playoff team a season ago thanks to the MVP year from Taylor Hall but they are still searching for a reliable source of secondary scoring and until that happens with some degree of consistency this could be a group capable of a massive underachievement this season.
The Flyers meanwhile have fit that title perfectly over the last couple of seasons as they have a really talented roster but have not been able to piece it all together. There is no question the likes of Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek are among the top forwards in the NHL but they too have some issues with secondary scoring and need their bottom 6 forwards to step up. The Flyers are 5-2 in their last 7 games overall and are 16-7 in their last 23 games against a team with a losing record and get a Devils side here who just can not find a way to win games away from home.
The Devils are 3-9 in their last 12 overall and 19-39 in their last 58 Thursday games while the Flyers are 2-5 in their last 7 against the Metro and and have gone Under in 10 of their last 15 with the Flyers. New Jersey can not buy a win on the road and until they can show us otherwise they will be on auto fade away from home.
