The Line: Philadelphia Flyers -155 / New York Islanders +130 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The Philadelphia Flyers host the New York Islanders in a Metropolitan NHL tilt on Saturday.
The New York Islanders hope to rediscover their offense after dropping a 3-2 OT decision to Florida that has the team staring at losses in four of five. New York led 2-0 on goals from Brock Nelson and Jordan Eberle but couldn’t hold on with Robin Lehner allowing three goals on 41 shots.
The Florida Panthers staged a third period rally with goals off the sticks of Frank Valtrano and Evgenii Dadonov while Mike Hoffman scored the winner 33 seconds in to overtime. Aleksander Barkov added a pair of assists for the Panthers with James Reimer getting the win with 20 stops.
The Philadelphia Flyers look to get back in the win column following a 3-0 defeat at Boston on Thursday. Philadelphia couldn’t generate anything at the offensive end and that put the burden of winning on Brian Elliott who gave up a pair of goals on 25 shots.
Zdeno Chara paced the Bruins offense with a second period goal and an empty net tally while Jake DeBrusk scored on the power play. Jaroslav Halak picked up the win for Boston with a 26 save performance to get the shutout.
Islanders are 1-7 in their last 8 Saturday games and Islanders are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. Metropolitan and Islanders are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. Eastern Conference. Over is 4-0 in Flyers last 4 vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and Flyers are 1-5 in their last 6 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game and Flyers are 1-4 in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. Over is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings and home team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and Islanders are 7-21 in the last 28 meetings in Philadelphia.
Neither team looks like a good wager right now but I think the over is the most logical choice…
