After a hot start to the season the New York Islanders have come crashing back to earth. New York is just 8-12-3 on the season and in the month of November the Islandes have won just three of 10 games. Heading into the season the biggest concern for New York was that they wouldn't be able to keep the puck out of their net. That has been exactly the problem for the Islanders of late and it doesn't look like it's going to get better anytime soon. New York allowed the Pittsburgh Penguins to score four times on Friday night as they fell by a final of 4-3. Three second period goals for New York had them in a deadlock at 3-3 after trailing 2-0 but the Islanders couldn't finish the deal in the third and watched as Sidney Crosby scored the game winner with just over a minute to play. Thomas Vanek scored twice in the second period and Colin McDonald also added a goal but Kevin Poulin couldn't make the big save whe this club needed him to. It's hard to imagine the Islanders doing much better than this unless they go out and acquire a real goaltender. New York has the offensive firepower to compete but without a competent netminder in goal they don't stand a chance. Heading to Philadelphia to face the Flyers looked like a nice break in the schedule a few weeks ago but that's not the case anymore. Philadelphia has won five of their last six games and are playing some of the best hockey in the league right now. The Flyers have been able to score some goals of late while not sacrificing play in their own zone. That's always a recipe to success in this league and with the way Steve Mason is playing there's no reason it can't continue. Philadelphia has a really nice schedule for the rest of the month and this is their chance to make up some ground in the Metropolitan Division while other teams continue to struggle. Their early season struggles can be erased with a good finish to the month. That's something the Flyers realize and it's why a game like this at home against the Islanders in November is extremely important. Expect the Flyers to play like they realize what these games mean to them right now.

Pick:
Philadelphia -157

On July 1, 2008 I typed into Google "How Do I start A Blog" and I started my first website called "Miami Mitch's Place" where i shared my college football Picks and predictions as well as opinion. By the Fall I had heard from many that the title made it sound like the site was about Miami so I changed it to "College Football Place" (cfbplace.com), After the 2008 college football season I change focus and launched CBBplace.com, it wasn't long after that when I realized I just wanted one place to add all sports, and that's when Sports Chat Place was born.

This site is a big Thank You to all of our readers, visitors, and community where we have been given a platform to talk to the masses about sports and hopefully help put you on some winners. If you need to reach me just shoot an email to [email protected]
