The NHL comes to the Wells Fargo Center Friday where the Philadelphia Flyers host the New York Islanders.

The New York Islanders have been paying well the week or so with wins in four of five after defeating the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 in overtime on Wednesday in the first leg of a home and home series.

Philadelphia opened the scoring at 6:02 of the first on a goal from Taylor Leier before the Islanders Mathew Barzal scored the tying goal with only 67 seconds remained in the first period on the power play.

The Flyers grabbed a 2-1 advantage only 46 seconds in to the second on a Michael Raffl tally before New York scored on the power play once again off the stick of Johnny Boykin at 7:13. The Isles took their first lead at 11:05 when Joshua Ho-Sang lit the lamp.

Philadelphia came right back to even the score 3-3 with Jacub Voracek scoring at 13:54 for a back and forth four goal second. Both defenses stiffened up in the third before Josh Bailey scored the winner for New York at 0:32 of OT. Brian Elliott stopped 35 shots for Philadelphia and Thomas Greiss recorded 35 saves to get the win as the Flyers dropped number six in a row.

Over is 3-0-1 in Islanders last 4 vs. Metropolitan and the over is 5-0-1 in Islanders last 6 vs. Eastern Conference and the over is 3-0-1 in Islanders last 4 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400. Flyers are 0-6 in their last 6 games playing on 1 days rest and Flyers are 0-5 in their last 5 overall and over is 5-0-1 in Flyers last 6 vs. Eastern Conference. Road team is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings and Islanders are 6-20 in the last 26 meetings in Philadelphia and Islanders are 13-40 in the last 53 meetings.

The Flyers are not able to sustain a consistent attack and can’t buy a win but if they are to win one this would be it…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
