The Philadelphia Flyers welcome the Pittsburgh Penguins to town in NHL action on Saturday.
The Pittsburgh Penguins were denied a third straight win in a 4-0 loss versus San Jose on Thursday night. Pittsburgh was quiet offensively and Casey DeSmith didn’t have his best game with four goals allowed on 33 shots.
Tomas Hertl led the San Jose offense with a pair of goals while Evander Kane and Brent Burns found the back of the net. Burns and Kevin Labanc added a pair of helpers each for the Sharks and Martin Jones picked up the win with 26 saves.
The Philadelphia Flyers are hoping to begin another hot streak after a 5-1 defeat at Montreal on Thursday. Michael Raffl broke up the shutout for the Flyers with a third period goal with Carter Hart giving up three goals on nine shots before Brian Elliott stopped 29-31 shots in relief.
Brenden Gallagher pad the Canadiens offense with a hat trick with Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Tomas Tater reaching the scoring column. Nine different players recorded points for Montreal and Carey Price got the win with a 29 save performance.
Penguins are 4-1 in their last 5 games as a favorite and Penguins are 8-2 in their last 10 vs. Metropolitan and Penguins are 12-5 in their last 17 vs. Eastern Conference.
Flyers are 12-4 in their last 16 overall and Flyers are 6-2 in their last 8 vs. a team with a winning record and Flyers are 8-3 in their last 11 home games.
Under is 3-1-3 in the last 7 meetings and Penguins are 9-3 in the last 12 meetings and Penguins are 6-0 in the last 6 meetings in Philadelphia.
As a Flyers fan it annoys me that Pittsburgh has enjoyed the majority of the success in this matchup. I hope I am wrong here…
