After an absolute disaster of a start to the season that saw head coach Peter Laviolette terminated the Philadelphia Flyers have completely turned things around under new head man Craig Berube. These aren't the same run n' gun Flyers we've become accustomed to seeing the last few years but there's still plenty of talent there that can hurt you at any time. Berube has this club focusing first on the defensive side of the puck and it has paid big dividends for his club. Add in that the Flyers have a top 10 power play and penalty kill and this is a team that should find themselves in the dance when all is said in done. There was a lot of talk about Claude Giroux being snubbed for the Canadian Olympic team but in the long run it might do Philadelphia a world of good having their best player get some much needed rest heading into the home stretch. Most teams had their players over in Sochi but the Flyers kept most of their guys here and all that rest might be just what this team needs to put them over the top. Steve Mason has had a great year and there's no reason to think it's going to stop now. It will be a huge test for Mason and the Flyers on Thursday at the Wells Fargo Center when the San Jose Sharks come to town. As is normally the case the Sharks are crusing through the regular season with a 37-16-6 record on the year. No matter what happens for Todd McLellan and this group of players over the remaining month and a half the only thing that will matter is what they do in the post season. Too many years has this been a dominant regular season team only to completely flame out in the post season. McLellan will be hard pressed to survive another early season exit because the expectations are there yet again for this club and playoff series are really where you see coaching play a big role. These two teams don't meet often but this should be a fun one on Thursday night that goes a pretty good pace. There are a lot of good games on the schedule to watch but this is definitely one every hockey fan should check in on. These two teams are pretty even with the Flyers playing at home and both goaltenders have been having very good season but I've got to give the edge to Flyers in this one.

Pick:
Philadelphia +100

On July 1, 2008 I typed into Google "How Do I start A Blog" and I started my first website called "Miami Mitch's Place" where i shared my college football Picks and predictions as well as opinion. By the Fall I had heard from many that the title made it sound like the site was about Miami so I changed it to "College Football Place" (cfbplace.com), After the 2008 college football season I change focus and launched CBBplace.com, it wasn't long after that when I realized I just wanted one place to add all sports, and that's when Sports Chat Place was born.

This site is a big Thank You to all of our readers, visitors, and community where we have been given a platform to talk to the masses about sports and hopefully help put you on some winners. If you need to reach me just shoot an email to [email protected]
