The Flyers continue their push towards the Eastern Conference playoffs as they host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night.
The Toronto Maple Leafs play out the string of a disappointing season on the road in Philadelphia tonight after getting pasted at home by the Columbus Blue Jackets last night and with a loss in Philly they would lock up the league’s worst record. Things have been a work in progress this season and the Leafs front office and fan base alike are all on the same page as they try to get back into the playoff picture in the next few years and with the prospects they have in the wings and the experience some of them are getting right now the future certainly is bright for the Buds. However, that doesn’t help us much here as they take to the road in a back to back situation with a handful of farm teams players and some young bucks against a Flyers tea who needs a win to keep their playoff hopes alive.
The Flyers have been up and down this season and quite frankly it wouldn’t surprise too many to see them fall out of the playoffs altogether but they could certainly add an exciting dynamic if they do qualify and they will do their best to keep it in their control with a win here against the lowly Maple Leafs. Philly is coming off a tough loss last night in Detroit in which they couldn’t get anything going offensively and they will need to rectify that in a big way tonight if they’re going to keep the Bruins at bay in the race for the final wild card spot. Philly needs this win plain and simple and while they too are in a back to back the circumstances are much different and I think the Flyers rebound at home in a big way.
