The Vancouver Canucks and Philadelphia Flyers meet up in Philly on Monday night as both teams compete for a playoff spot in their respective conferences.

The Canucks search for a little consistency in their game as they head into Philadelphia to take on a red hot Flyers side that has won 7 games in a row and after a road win against the Colorado Avalanche the Canucks are looking for another impressive result away from home. The Canucks have a ton of young talent and were considered an after thought in the playoff race in the Western Conference this season thanks to the retirement of Daniel and Henrik Sedin but Vancouver looks to be miles ahead of their projected rebuild and could very well jump into the playoff picture this season with a late surge. The Canucks are 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record and are 2-6 in their last 8 games against the Metro division but they will have their hands full with a Flyers side who has been one of the league’s best since the all-star break.

The Flyers meanwhile have won 5 games in a row on home ice and have won 7 games in a row overall as they continue their ascent up the Eastern Conference standings but they haven’t fared very well against Pacific division foes with a 1-4 mark in their last 5 games. Philadelphia struggled in the early part of the season but are looking like a team capable of getting into the playoffs this season if they can continue this level of play but they still remain one of the more difficult teams in the NHL to handicap. The Flyers are 5-12 in their last 17 games on a Monday and are 2-5 in their last 7 against a team with a losing record which makes Monday’s contest with the Canucks an interesting matchup without many trends in either direction.

The Canucks have hit the Under in 5 of their last 7 road games and are 1-4 in their last 5 following a win while the Flyers are 6-0 in their last 6 following a win and have hit the Under in 8 of their last 10 against the Western Conference. The Flyers are playing very well right now and seem to be in a spot where they have put their early season woes behind them and are the play here against Vancouver.
