The Capitals look to take a commanding 3-0 series lead as they head into Philadelphia for a show down at Wells Fargo on Monday night.
The Washington Capitals were business as usual in the first two games of their Metro division bracket series with the Philadelphia Flyers as they outscored their foes by a 6-1 margin and head into the City of Brotherly Love looking for an encore. The Capitals have carried over their regular season success and look like a Cup contender at the moment as they try to parlay their President’s Trophy with a Stanley Cup and with so much depth all over the ice the Caps are going to be very tough to slow down and it will take more than the Flyers’ roster to pull it off. The Caps were almost as lethal on the road as they were at home this season and with Braden Holtby playing the way he is in the Washington crease there is no reason to deny why they are considered favourite to not only win this series but to cruise through the Eastern Conference sequence.
The Flyers return home looking to play their way back into the series with the Capitals and if there is any chance of them coming back it has to start tonight as it will be almost impossible to win four in a row against this Washington side. The Flyers do have some exceptional talent led of course by Claude Giroux but they don’t have the depth that they have had in the past and as such they just don’t match up very well with a Washington side that can beat you in a number of different ways. The Flyers were an impressive 23-10-8 at home this season but with Washington having so much fire power I don’t think it’ll matter as I like the Caps to get another victory here and possibly sweep the series in game four.
