The Chicago Blackhawks look to continue their impressive West coast swing as they travel to Phoenix to take on the Coyotes.
The Blackhawks head into Phoenix on Friday night looking for their third straight win while dealing the Coyotes back to back losses in what should be a very exciting contest between two emerging rivals. Chicago has been the class of the Central division for most of the season but the red hot Blues are fast approaching as they`re just two points behind heading into tonight`s game. The Hawks have been playing very well of late with just two regulation losses to their name in their last 10 contests and two of those wins were against the Sharks and Kings and now they get another Western team here in the form of the unpredictable Phoenix Coyotes. Corey Crawford gets the call between the pipes for the Hawks as he goes up against Mike Smith for Phoenix.
The Coyotes head into Friday night`s encounter with the Blackhawks sitting in fifth place in the Pacific division but are just a single point back of the freefalling Canucks for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference and have one of the better goalies in the league in Smith. Phoenix is a scrappy team that never seems to back down but their inconsistent play this season has me a bit worried and a large part of that I think stems from the expectations being what they are on the team this season. The Coyotes do have a pretty decent roster but to me they aren`t a playoff contender by any stretch especially with the way the other teams towards the top of the West standings have been playing. This is another one of those spots as the Coyotes always seem to find themselves in situations to win games they have no business winning and with the Coyotes needing this one more than the Hawks and being at home I like the price as a home dog.
