The Rangers and Penguins meet up in New York for game two of their Metro division playoff series after the Blue Shirts took the opener by a 2-1 final.
The Pittsburgh Penguins took a lot of people by surprise by staying incredibly competitive for 60 minutes with the league's best regular season group and to be honest there were times where it looked like the Pens were going to net the win and they'll be out for blood in this one. The Pens had a disappointing second half of the regular season and backed their way into the playoffs but there is no question they have a ton of talent and while they are thin on the back end due to injury they have the horses up front and if they can find a way to get through New York's smothering defense they could very well find a way to win this series. Marc-Andre Fleury will get the call as he will go up against Henrik Lundqvist.
The Rangers were the odds on favourites to win the Cup heading into the playoffs and as the President's Trophy winners it is clear to see why. The Rangers are the defending eastern Conference champions and were a game away from winning the Cup last year and that experience and heart break will surely continue to be fuel to the fire for New York who has the legs to make a deep run once again. However, it is tough to live up to expectations when they are set so high and normally that is the card reserved for the Penguins and now the tables have turned and while I don't think the Rangers will necessarily lose the series I do think it'll be closer than anticipated and if the Pens are going to keep this close they'll need to find a way to win at MSG and I think we get it here.
