The Pittsburgh Penguins look to build on their 7-0 trouncing of the Arizona Coyotes as they welcome the Boston Bruins to town on Wednesday night.
The Bruins held on for an overtime road victory against the Montreal Canadiens on Monday night and they will look to carry that momentum over into their Wednesday night show down against the defending champions in what should be an exciting contest. Boston has silenced the critics and are looking like a serious contender in the Eastern Contender as their top line of Patrice Bergeron, David Pastrnak, and Brad Marchand have been excellent and rival any top line in the league right now when it comes to production and they will have to be sharp in this one against Sidney Crosby and company. The B’s will likely send Tuukka Rask to the crease after his strong effort against the Canadiens as he will face off against either Matt Murray or Marc-Andre Fleury, though we are leaning towards the former after he blanked the Coyotes the last night out.
The Penguins meanwhile have been business as usual and Crosby is off to a ridiculous start to the season as the league’s best player is proving why on a nightly basis and have put aside years of hardship when it comes to injuries in what is looking like his best season to date. The Penguins are coming off a Stanley Cup title last season and are looking as dangerous as ever this season and should certainly be in the mix in the Eastern Conference and if they can add a piece or two at the back or in the forward depth this is going to be a very tough team to slow down.
The B’s are 1-4 in their last five Wednesday games and 9-4 in their last 13 games playing on one day’s rest while the Pens are 5-0 in their last five following a win and 49-20 in their last 69 overall. This is going to be a great game between two very good teams but the Pens are on another level right now and I think they do enough to get the win here.
