The Penguins welcome back former head coach Dan Bylsma to Pittsburgh on Thursday night as he leads the Sabres in to town.
The Buffalo Sabres made some big time strides in the offseason as they landed highly touted prospect Jack Eichel in the draft and added some key pieces to their line up but perhaps their biggest for the future of the team was landing a former Cup winning coach to lead the way. The Sabres brought in Dan Bylsma to lead the young team moving forward and he gets his first crack at his former employer on Thursday night in what should be an exciting atmosphere. The Sabres will turn towards Chad Johnson as he will likely square off against Jeff Zatkoff who will give Marc-Andre Fleury the night off after he started against the Washington Capitals.
The Penguins are off to a relatively slow start as they were predicted to be a force in the Eastern Conference but up to this point (at the time of writing they are leading the Caps in the third) they are just a game above the .500 mark and looking to climb. Pittsburgh has a ton of fire power in the offensive zone but the key to their team's success will be how their defense can play in front of Fleury and whether the unit can replicate the energy of the forward group. The Pens have some work to do but at home here against the lowly Sabres I think they will use that as a coming out party despite playing in Washington last night. Pens should cruise here.
