The Sabres will look to avenge a home ice last night against the Senators as they travel to Pittsburgh to take on a star studded Penguins team.

The Sabres are off to an 0-2 start but they have been competitive in both games thus far, and if not for an underwhelming offensive display they could very well be 2-0 instead. The Sabres lost their season opener on the road against the Red Wings and dropped their home opener against their division rivals from Ottawa last night but they get a chance to right the ship against the Penguins here tonight. Buffalo is a team is transition as they unloaded a number of big money contracts last season and are at the brink of pulling the plug and starting over if things don’t fabricate the way they hope they do this season. Thomas Vanek is one of the league’s more underrated forwards and is easily the best player on the Sabres but his wallet busting contract could have him on the way out of town before season’s end and that cloud looming over a team can do some damage to the team’s psyche.

The Penguins meanwhile are in the exact opposite position as they have a stacked roster across the board and while goaltending was a question mark coming in, former first overall pick Marc Andre Fleury silenced his critics and posted a shutout in his season debut. The Penguins are once again major players in the Eastern Conference and have two of the game’s best in Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin and you can be sure those two would love to put up some numbers here against the Sabres. The Pens are dangerous and they’re heavy favourites for good reason. They catch Buffalo in a back to back and they’ll likely see Jhonas Enroth go tonight after Ryan Miller got the nod last night and I think that is a disaster for the Sabres. Look for the Pens to do some damage.
