The Pittsburgh Penguins look to continue their hot play at home when the Calgary Flames visit for NHL hockey action Tuesday.
A defensive struggle between the New York Rangers and Calgary Flames turned in to a third period score fest with New York coming out on top in a 4-3 win at MSG on Sunday where five goals were scored in the third. The Rangers featured scoring from Michael Grabner, Rick Nash, Jesper Fast and Chris Kreider while JT Miller logged a pair of assists to help Henrik Lundqvist overcome a wild third period to pick up the win as New York has won five of seven. The Flames offense came from Dougie Hamilton, Troy Brouwer and Matthew Tkachuk with Michael Backlund recording two helpers but Brian Elliott and his 28 stops came up short.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are looking like back to back Stanley Cup championships are well within reach especially when the defense plays well. The Penguins were outstanding at both ends of the ice in a 4-1 road win versus the St. Louis Blues on Saturday. Sydney Crosby was at his best with a pair of tallies with Justin Schultz and Kris Letang also lighting the lamp while Marc-Andre Fleury recording 22 stops to get the win. The Blues lone goal came off the stick of Patrik Berglund but Jake Allen struggled between the pipes with 27 stops as new head coach Mike Yeo absorbed his first defeat for St. Louis.
The over is 3-0-1 in Flames last 4 Tuesday games and the Flames are 1-5 in their last 6 vs. Metropolitan while the over is 4-1 in Flames last 5 vs. a team with a winning record. The over is 6-0-1 in Penguins last 7 games playing on 2 days rest and the Penguins are 7-1 in their last 8 games playing on 2 days rest while the Penguins are 5-1 in their last 6 games following a win.
