Tuesday NHL action brings us the Carolina Hurricanes visiting the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Carolina Hurricanes were denied a third straight win in a 4-3 defeat versus visiting Calgary on Sunday. Teuvo Teravainen, Dougie Hamilton lit the lamp for the Hurricanes. Michael Ferland posted a pair of assists and Petr Mrazek took the loss for Carolina with four goals allowed on 32 shots.

The balanced Calgary attack saw scoring off the sticks off Elias Lindholm, Derek Ryan, Garnet Hathaway and Noah Hanifin. Eleven players recorded points for the Flames and David Rittich stopped 34 shots to get the win.

The Pittsburgh Penguins saw a two game winning streak end in a 3-2 loss at Toronto on Saturday. Sydney Crosby and Teddy Blueger gave the Penguins a 2-0 lead in the first with Matt Murray allowing three goals on 33 shots to get the loss.

Auston Matthews scored in the first for Toronto with Travis McDermott and Zach Hyman lighting the lamp in the third. Jake Gardiner assisted twice for the Maple Leafs and Garret Sparks stopped 28 shots to pick up the win.

Over is 3-0-1 in Hurricanes last 4 vs. Metropolitan and Hurricanes are 4-0 in their last 4 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game and over is 5-1 in Hurricanes last 6 vs. a team with a winning record. Penguins are 5-1 in their last 6 vs. Metropolitan and over is 5-1-1 in Penguins last 7 Tuesday games and Penguins are 9-2 in their last 11 vs. Eastern Conference. Under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Pittsburgh and under is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings and Hurricanes are 1-5 in the last 6 meetings in Pittsburgh.

I’d go small on the Penguins because they are not a consistent squad in my view…

Pittsburgh -1

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
