The Pittsburgh Penguins take the ice with the Colorado Avalanche in a Tuesday NHL matchup.

The Surging Colorado Avalanche have racked up wins in eight of ten following a 2-0 victory at Detroit on Sunday. The Red Wings never got things going offensively and Jonathan Bernier paid the price with a goal allowed on 28 shots. The Avalanche received a second period power play goal from Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog scored on the empty net. MacKinnon also logged an assist and Mikko Rantanen added two helpers to lift Colorado who saw Semyon Varlamov record 24 stops.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are hoping to avoid a three game skid following a 4-2 loss to visiting Philadelphia on Saturday. Pittsburgh received scoring from Sydney Crosby and Riley Sheahan that gave Pitt a 2-1 lead. Casey DeSmith absorbed the loss for the Penguins with three goals given up on 25 shots.

The balanced Flyers saw offense off the sticks of Trvis Konecny, Claude Giroux, Dale Weise and Jakub Voracek. Andrew McDonald posted three assists and Anthony Stolarz picked up the win for Philadelphia with 30 stops.

Avalanche are 5-0 in their last 5 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game and Avalanche are 7-1 in their last 8 overall and Avalanche are 5-1 in their last 6 games following a win. Over is 3-0-1 in Penguins last 4 Tuesday games and Penguins are 1-7 in their last 8 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game and under is 6-1-1 in Penguins last 8 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. Avalanche are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.

The Penguins are still looking for consistency so something on the red hot Avalanche…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
