The Florida Panthers will play their second game of a three-game road trip when it travels to play the hot Pittsburgh Penguins Monday night. The Panthers have lost three of their last four games, including two straight, while the Penguins have won five of their last six.

Florida continues to struggle in nearly every area and proves that it is one of the worst teams in the NHL. Its ranked 28th in goals scored per game, 28th in power play kill percentage and dead last in power play percentage. Meanwhile, it’s the exact opposite for Pittsburgh. The Penguins are the best in power play percentage, the best in power play kill percentage and fourth in goals per game.

Bad news for the Panthers.

When these two teams met at the end of November, Pittsburgh won the game pretty convincingly with a score of 5-1. However, Florida has had better success than you would expect against Pittsburgh by splitting the last four meetings at two games apiece. And the last five games between these two teams has been decided by at least two goals.

That’s the direction you have to go here. There’s little reason to think Florida stands much of a chance on the road against arguably the best team in hockey. There’s also little value in the money line. If you want to pick this game, go ahead and pick Pittsburgh to win by two goals.

After all, the Penguins are 43-10 in their last 53 home games.

Pick:
Pittsburgh -1½
