NHL action comes to PPG Paints Arena where the Pittsburgh Penguins welcome the Montreal Canadiens to town.

The Montreal Canadiens have been eliminated from the postseason for quite awhile but would still like to finish the final week of the year playing well. Montreal has won two of three following a 4-2 win versus Detroit. He Red Wings saw Gustav Nyquist and Tyler Bertuzzi score while Jared Coreau allowed four goals on 31 shots.

Brendan Gallagher topped the Canadiens offense with a pair of second period tallies with Paul Byron and Alex Galchenyuk also scoring. Jeff Petry and Jonathan Drouin added two assists each for the Habs and Carey Price recorded 26 saves to get the win.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are needing to sweep their schedule and hope Washington slumps to capture the Metropolitan. Pittsburgh comes off of a 4-3 OT win at New Jersey where Kyle Palmieri, Taylor Hall and Blake Coleman scored for the Devils with Keith Kinkaid giving up four goals on 35 shots.

The Penguins saw Conor Sheary, Kris Letang and Patric Hornqvist score in regulation before Sydney Crosby scored 19 seconds in to overtime.  Brian Dumoulin added two helpers for the Pens and Matt Murray stopped 28-31 shots to secure the two points.

Canadiens are 0-5 in their last 5 games playing on 3 or more days rest and Canadiens are 0-5 in their last 5 vs. Metropolitan and over is 6-0 in Canadiens last 6 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game. Penguins are 0-5 in their last 5 games following a win and over is 6-0 in Penguins last 6 games playing on 1 days rest and over is 4-0 in Penguins last 4 vs. a team with a winning % below .400. Canadiens are 0-4 in the last 4 meetings and over is 6-0-2 in the last 8 meetings in Pittsburgh and Canadiens are 3-8 in the last 11 meetings in Pittsburgh.

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
