The Nashville Predators look to exact some revenge in a Stanley Cup final rematch against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night.
The Predators look to get a victory in Pittsburgh and send the Penguins to another early season loss as the two reigning Conference champions face off in a rematch of last season’s Stanley Cup final. Nashville took a loss in their season opener and will be in tough on the road against a Pens side that is lethal on home ice and is coming off an absolute stinker against the Chicago Blackhawks where they gave up 10 goals on the road at the United Center. Nashville is a hard team to take down thanks in large part to their strong defense core and stellar goaltending but if there is any team that matches up well with them, as we saw last season, it is the Penguins who have some much depth in the offensive end and a winning pedigree that should be on display again tonight.
The Penguins were absolutely thrashed by the Blackhawks in their second game of the season and while it is very early in the season with plenty of hockey left to be played, I think it is safe to say that will be the most lopsided loss the Pens will suffer all season long. Pittsburgh couldn’t find a way to keep the Hawks out of the back of their net in what was surely a sour post game and trip back to Pittsburgh but sometimes the best way to shake off an ugly effort like that is to get right back on the ice and this is a great spot for them back on home ice where they have made teams look foolish in the last couple of seasons.
The Preds are winless in their last four road games and 5-1 in their last six Saturday games while the Pens are 1-4 in their last five Saturday games and 5-2 in their last seven games against a team with a losing record. Nashville will be out for revenge while the Pens need to shake off a sloppy outing but in the end the best play here is on the under as Pittsburgh will fix things up while the Preds are always strong in their own end.
