The New Jersey Devils open the second half of the NHL season at the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The New Jersey Devils went in to the All Star break on a three game skid after a 3-2 loss to visiting Anaheim. Marcus Johansson gave New Jersey a 1-0 lead in the first with Jesper Bratt scoring with 56 seconds left in the game. MacKenzie Blackwood absorbed the loss for the Devils with three goals allowed on 14 shots.
Anaheim received scoring from Daniel Sprong, Troy Terry and Derek Grant. Sprong and Terry added helpers for the Ducks with John Gibson recording 29 saves to pick up the win.
The Pittsburgh Penguins ended the first half of the season with losses in three of four following a 7-3 defeat at Vegas. Phil Kessel, Dominik Simon and Sydney Crosby lit the lamp for the Pens. Jake Guentzel assisted twice for Pittsburgh with Casey DeSmith giving up six goals on 34 shots.
Jonathan Marchessault recorded a hat trick for Vegas with Shea Theodore, Max Pacioretty, Oscar Lindberg and William Karlsson also finding the scoring column.
Colin Miller and Paul Stastny supplied two assists apiece for the Golden Knights and Marc-Andre Fleury gave up three goals on 37 shots to pick up the win.
