The Line: Pittsburgh Penguins -210 / New York Islanders +175 --- Over/Under: 5.5
NHL hockey comes to the PPG PAINTS Arena when the Pittsburgh Penguins host the New York Islanders.
The New York Islanders are locked in a battle to snag the final Wild Card so every point is crucial especially with the end of the regular season in sight. The Islanders picked up a pair of points with a 3-2 victory versus the rival New York Rangers on Wednesday night with just enough offense and a strong defensive effort. Alan Ladd broke a 2-2 contest with a third period tally with Nikolay Kulemin and Anders Lee also lighting the lamp. Lee also added an assist with Anthony Beauviller also adding two helpers to make a winner of Thomas Greiss and his 30 stops. The Rangers offense came off the sticks of Rick Nash and Mats Zuccarello while Antti Raanta absorbed the loss with 25 saves which was just short.
Even though the Pittsburgh Penguins are assured of going to the postseason they want to win the Metropolitan Division which means catching and leapfrogging both the Columbus Blue Jackets and Washington Capitals. The Penguins have little wiggle room and missed an opportunity to pick up two points because of a 2-1, shootout defeat at the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night. Pitt did not score in the SO with their lone goal coming in the second on a power play tally from Nick Bonino while Matt Murray absorbed the loss with 29 stops. The Senators saw Mike Hoffman erase a 1-0 deficit with his power play goal nearly halfway through the third with Kyle Turris and Bobby Ryan each scoring in the shootout. Mike Condon picked up the win with 34 saves as the Sens picked up ground on Montreal who lost.

The under is 8-0 in Penguins last 8 games playing on 0 days rest and the Penguins are 6-1 in their last 7 Friday games while the under is 4-1 in Penguins last 5 vs. a team with a losing record. The Islanders are 6-22 in the last 28 meetings in Pittsburgh and the home team is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings while the Islanders are 16-36 in the last 52 meetings.
The Penguins have been the choice in this match up and I lean their way with goalies yet to be announced…
