The Senators look to follow up last night's effort against the Blue Jackets as they head into Pittsburgh to battle one of their arch rivals.
The Ottawa Senators exploded offensively last night hanging seven goals on the Columbus Blue jackets and their fast start to the season is proving that last year's run was no fluke and that they should be considered Eastern Conference contenders. The Sens found themselves trailing early but an outburst in the second half of the game scoring five unanswered and securing a 7-3 victory that puts them in a good position heading into Pittsburgh on Thursday. Unfortunately for Ottawa, they head into Pittsburgh to take on a Pens team that has yet to win a game and will be itching to get in the win column playing in front of their home fans.
The Penguins are off to a slow start and for a group that was projected to lead the league in goals scored they have fallen well short of that mark through three games and the critics are starting to speak louder. The Pens will surely turn things around soon but they could be a group that is over hyped as they still have some pretty gaping holes in their lineup despite possessing the best “big three” in terms of offense in the NHL. The Pens and Sens have developed a pretty intense rivalry over the years and you can bet both teams will be geared up in this one as we should see a tightly fought game where the offenses, despite being talented, should be quiet
