The Philadelphia Flyers visit PPG Paints Arena for an NHL tilt with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Philadelphia Flyers have fallen off the pace in their pursuit of Washington for the top spot in the Metropolitan. Philadelphia has won three of four after squeezing by the Rangers 4-3 where New York saw Jesper Fast score twice with Mika Zibanejad also scoring while Alexander Georgiev allowed four goals on 36 shots.
The Flyers received a pair of goals from Travis Konecny with Jakub Voracek and Oskar Lindblom also lighting the lamp. Claude Giroux logged three helpers and Andrew McDonald added two assists and Alex Lyon gave Philadelphia 33 saves to get the win.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have alternated wins and losses over the past seven games which has hurt their chances in catching the Capitals. Pittsburgh comes off of a 4-3 OT defeat to the New Jersey Devils where Sydney Crosby, Brian Dumoulin and Phil Kessel scored while Matt Murray gave up four goals on 34 shots.
New Jersey received second period goals from Will Butcher, Blake Coleman and Nico Hischier before Taylor Hall secured the two points with his marker just 27 seconds in to overtime. Hall also added a pair of helpers to make a winner of Keith Kinkaid and his 40 saves.
Over is 5-0 in Flyers last 5 vs. Eastern Conference and over is 5-0 in Flyers last 5 overall and Flyers are 5-1 in their last 6 Sunday games. Penguins are 5-0 in their last 5 in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 situation and over is 7-1 in Penguins last 8 home games vs. a team with a winning road record and over is 6-1 in Penguins last 7 vs. Eastern Conference. Over is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings in Pittsburgh and over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and Flyers are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings in Pittsburgh.
These teams haven’t been dependable and I’m inclined to take a shot at the over pending goalies…
