The Pittsburgh Penguins look to wrap up their first round NHL playoff series with the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday.

The Philadelphia Flyers head to Pittsburgh for game five facing elimination after a 5-0 loss at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday has the team staring at a 3-1 series deficit. Philadelphia has been out scored 18-5 in the series with struggles a both ends of the ice. Brian Elliott gave up three goals on 17 shots before the Flyers turned to Michal Neuvirth who stopped 11-13.

The Pittsburgh Penguins recorded their third lopsided victory of the first round and the two time defending Stanley Cup champions need one win to advance to the conference quarterfinals. The balanced  Pittsburgh attack saw Evgeni Malkin, Phil Kessel, Kris Letang, Sydney Crosby and Riley Sheahan all lighting the lamp. Jake Guentzel gave the Penguins a pair of helpers and Matt Murray recorded his second shutout of the series with 26 saves.

Flyers are 0-4 in their last 4 games following a home loss of 3 or more goals and Flyers are 1-5 in their last 6 games following a loss of 3 or more goals and over is 10-2-2 in Flyers last 14 vs. Eastern Conference. Under is 3-0-1 in Penguins last 4 after scoring 5 goals or more in their previous game and over is 9-1-2 in Penguins last 12 games playing on 1 days rest and Penguins are 10-2 in their last 12 Conference Quarterfinals games. Flyers are 1-7 in the last 8 meetings and over is 6-1-2 in the last 9 meeting and Flyers are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings in Pittsburgh.

I’m a Flyers fan but the team has problems in the net and at the offensive end and neither is going to suddenly get better and in the series. This is hard to type but I am taking Pittsburgh to win and advance to round two…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
