The Tampa Bay Lightning visit the Pittsburgh Penguins for a Wednesday NHL tilt.
The Tampa Bay Lightning closed the first half of the season with a 6-3 rout of San Jose. Evander Kane paced San Jose with two goals with Marcus Sorensen adding a marker. Martin Jones absorbed the loss for the Sharks with six goals allowed on 26 shots to fall to 22-9-4.
Tampa Bay saw Steven Stamkos score twice with Mathieu Joseph, Alex Killorn, Yanni Gourde and Victor Hedman also lighting the lamp. Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov supplied a pair of helpers for the Lightning with Andrei Vasilevskiy stopping 36-39 shots.
The Pittsburgh Penguins began the second half of the season on a down note with a 6-3 loss to visiting New Jersey on Monday. Derick Brassard, Matt Cullen and Bryan Rust scored for the Penguins and Matt Murray gave up six goals on 32 shots to get the loss.
The balanced New Jersey offense saw Travis Zajac, Damon Severson, Brian Boyle, Blake Coleman, Kyle Palmieri and Pavel Zacha. Zajac also posted three helpers and Keith Kinkaid picked up the win for the Devils with three goals allowed on 40 shots.
