The Tampa Bay Lightning look to take a 2-0 series lead as they face off against the Penguins in Pittsburgh for game two on Monday.
The Lightning got off to a fast start in their second straight Eastern Conference final and continue to impress in these playoffs as they have defied the odds since the opening round and are now three games away from getting back to the Stanley Cup final. Tampa has had a great balance in the offensive zone and if they get Steven Stamkos back in the near future it could very well put them over the edge despite matching up here with a very good Penguins side that didn’t play well in the series opener. Tampa did suffer the loss of Ben Bishop though as he left on a stretcher with a lower body injury and his status for this one is uncertain, but they do have Andrei Vasilevskiy who is one of the best young goalies in the league and will go toe to toe with Matt Murray on Monday night.
The Penguins had one of their worst games of the playoffs in the series opener and couldn’t find a way to generate any offense but they stay at home for game two and will be out for a much better showing in this one. The Pens are stacked offensively and will look to overmatch the Lightning with their depth in the attacking zone and with Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby both struggling to find the score sheet the Pens need their big guns to step up if they’re going to get back to the Stanley Cup final. Murray has looked great in the Penguins crease and will get the nod again here as Marc-Andre Fleury continues to battle ailments on the injured reserve. The Pens know they need to rebound in a big way tonight and while Vasilevskiy is a good goaltender the Pens have the offense to make him shaky and I think they get back in hit with a win tonight.
