The Penguins look to shake off an ugly loss to the Bruins in their last outing as they return home to welcome the Jets to town.
The Winnipeg Jets have started the fire sale and have unloaded captain Andrew Ladd to the Chicago Blackhawks and while they managed to get an inspired victory in their first game without him they face a tough test here against a desperate Penguins side. Winnipeg is coming off a 6-3 win on the road against the Dallas Stars and will look for a follow up effort here on the road and inch to within two points of the Coyotes for fourth to last in the wild card hunt in the Western Conference. The Jets have all but played their way out of this year’s playoffs and a hit on Saturday against the Penguins could be another set back that would send them further into the draft lottery. Mike Hutchinson will get the start in goal for Winnipeg as he will face off against Marc-Andre Fleury for the Pens.
Pittsburgh has been up and down this season and after it appeared as though they had turned a corner heading into the all-star break they are back into dangerous waters as the trade deadline approaches, sitting in fourth in the Metro and barely clinging to a wild card spot. The Pens are in a nice spot here though taking on a Jets team that is undergoing a massive fire sale and with the playoffs on the horizon and playing at home you can be sure that Pittsburgh will get themselves ready for this one. Winnipeg still has some talent but for a Pens team coming off an embarrassing loss I think they respond in a big way and get a much needed win against the Jets.
