The Chicago Blackhawks look to shake off a loss in LA yesterday as they face off against one of the league’s best teams in San Jose on Sunday.
The Blackhawks look for a statement road win against the San Jose Sharks on Sunday as they aim to keep their playoff hopes intact but things won’t come easy as the Sharks have been one of the league’s best teams this season and are among a handful of teams considered to be in the running to win the Stanley Cup. Chicago has enjoyed a resurgence since the all-star break and they have a lot of that to credit to the play of Art Ross candidate Patrick Kane who is sitting 2nd in the league with 94 points but it may not be enough to get his team into the playoffs as they are 6 points back of the Coyotes for the final wild card spot and have 17 games to make up ground.
The Sharks meanwhile are chasing down the Calgary Flames for top spot in the Pacific division but are currently looking like they are on a collision course with the Las Vegas Golden Knights in the opening round of the playoffs. San Jose has been consistent all season long and are in the midst of a 6-3-1 stretch and are an impressive 20-5-5 at home this season which has them as a significant home favorite in this spot. The Sharks are 9-2 in their last 11 home games but are 0-4 in their last 4 games following a victory and will be facing off against a Hawks side who is approaching desperation mode as they are 3-9 in their last 12 contests against the Sharks.
The Hawks are 11-5 in their last 16 games and are 4-9 in their last 13 Sunday games while the Sharks are 9-3 in their last 12 games at home against Chicago while the favorite is 21-6 in the last 27 matchups between these sides. Chicago is playing well right now and while the Sharks home record is daunting the Hawks need this win more and have two lethal weapons right now in Alex Debrincat and Patrick Kane.
