The Columbus Blue Jackets look to stay hot on the west coast as they head into San Jose to battle with the Sharks on Thursday night.
The Blue Jackets look to move a game above the .500 mark as they continue their road trip in San Jose as they take on the reigning Western Conference champs in arguably their toughest test of the season. Columbus fell apart in the early going last season and went from being a preseason darling to a write off by Halloween but this time around they are starting to show some fight and could very well cause some headaches in the Metro division this season. Columbus will stay with Sergei Bobrovsky who has been strong to start the season as he will face off against Martin Jones.
The Sharks meanwhile look to generate a bit more consistency in their game as they have gone 1-5 in their last six games following a win and are 0-5 in their last five matchups playing on a days rest but have a favourable matchup here against the Blue Jackets. San Jose has asserted themselves as one of the best teams in the NHL over the last 10 seasons and while they haven’t been able to win the Stanley Cup they got over the hump last year and qualified for final against a very good Pens side and have a great chance at getting back there this season.
The Blue Jackets are 4-1 in their last five road games and 0-4 in their last four Thursday games while the Sharks are 4-1 in their last five against a team with a losing record and 10-3 in their last 13 home games. Columbus is playing well right now and I think Bobrovsky will show up again here in a game that will come down to goaltending in what should stay under the total.
