Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

The Columbus Blue Jackets visit the San Jose Sharks in a late Thursday night NHL bout.

The Columbus Blue Jackets were denied a third straight win in a 5-3 loss to visiting Detroit on Monday. Josh Anderson, Markus Nutivaara and Pierre-Luc Debois scored for Columbus while Markus Hannikainen assisted twice. Joonas Korpisalo gave up three goals on seven shots before Sergei Bobrovsky allowed a goal on 24 shots.

Dylan Larkin topped the Red Wings offense with a pair of goals with Michael Rasmussen, Tyler Bertuzzi and Anthony Mantha joining the scoring column. Jimmy Howard picked up the win for Detroit with 34 stops.

The San Jose Sharks have lost two of their last three via the shootout following a 4-3 SO loss to the visiting Rangers on Tuesday. Brent Burns, Timo Meier and Tomas Hertl scored for the Sharks with Martin Jones allowing three goals on 37 shots as with the team unable to score in the shootout.

The Rangers received a first period goal from Mats Zuccarello with Chris Kreider scoring twice in the third. Kevin Shattenkirk scored the only goal in the shootout to make the 31 saves of Henrik Lundqvist a winner and secure two points for New York.

Blue Jackets are 4-0 in their last 4 Thursday games and over is 4-0 in Blue Jackets last 4 after allowing 5 goals or more in their previous game and over is 6-1 in Blue Jackets last 7 games playing on 1 days rest. Over is 4-0 in Sharks last 4 overall and Sharks are 1-4 in their last 5 vs. Metropolitan and Sharks are 48-17 in their last 65 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of greater than .600. Road team is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings and Blue Jackets are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings and Blue Jackets are 7-21 in the last 28 meetings in San Jose.

San Jose has looked like one of the tougher teams out west and I look for a rebound from recent defensive woes…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
