The Blue Jackets look to snap out of their ugly funk to start the year as they take to the road to battle the Sharks in San Jose.
The Columbus Blue Jackets got off to a rocky start and it ended up costing their coach his job and while things haven't been much better under John Tortorella they seem to be playing with a little bit more fire. The Jackets enter action on Tuesday night looking to snap a two game slide and earn just their third victory of the season as they sit in last place in the NHL with a paltry four points in 12 contests. Columbus fell short of expectations last season and with a preseason rank that had them predicted to go to the playoffs that sentiment is quickly changing as they are very bad and will likely land a top three draft pick. Sergei Bobrovsky will likely get the start as he will go up against Martin Jones who is enjoying his first season as a full time starter.
The Sharks continue to be relevant in the Western Conference despite being incredibly difficult to predict which team is going to show up as they are very streaky and seem to go on stretches where they look like Cup contenders and others where they wouldn't beat a junior team. San Jose is right in the mix in the Pacific division though and as mentioned Martin Jones is having a very strong start to the year as he is 6-3 in nine starts but has a very impressive 1.88 goals against average and is looking like a steal after coming over from the Kings. There is no real value on this game as the Sharks are big time favourites so the only way to play it is on the puck line and that's where we will go here.
