The Stars look to shake off a loss against the Ducks in Anaheim last night as they stay in California to battle the Sharks in San Jose.
The Stars fell behind the eight ball early and often on Friday night as the Ducks put up four goals in the opening 20 minutes and skated to a 4-2 win in what was Dallas’ 11th regulation loss of the season and sixth in their last 10. Dallas has cooled off substantially and thanks to Chicago’s ridiculous 10 game winning streak the Stars have actually dropped into second place in the Central division and while they are well clear of the playoff cut off they are starting to feel the heat a little bit. However, Lindy Ruff has this team in really good shape and with the depth they have in the offensive zone I don’t imagine it’ll take too long for them to break out of this funk. Antii Niemi will likely get the nod as he will go up against Martin Jones.
The Sharks sit in third place in the Pacific division and are 6-3-1 in their last 10 contests and have won four straight decisions. San Jose is a tough team to figure out as who will show up on a nightly basis has been a major struggle to determine over the last few seasons and with some trade speculation seeping in over the last couple of weeks it’ll be interesting to see how they play over the next few weeks. San Hose is just 7-12 at home this year while the Stars are 12-6-4 on the road and despite coming off a loss last night I think they rebound here and get a win against San Jose.
