The Florida Panthers invade the SAP Center to oppose the San Jose Sharks in NHL action on Thursday.
The Florida Panthers will be on the road for the 4th time in five games on Thursday when the team visit the San Jose Sharks. Florida looks to go on a winning streak after upending the Dallas Stars 4-3 in a shootout on Tuesday night with a strong offensive effort leading the way.
The Panthers blew a 2-0 lead in the first period thanks to shootout goals from Aleksander Barkov and Vincent Trocheck. Jonathan Huberdeau scored twice in the opening period with the man advantage with Barkov also lighting the lamp in the third after the team fell behind 3-2. Keith Yandle added two assists and Roberto Luongo stopped 40 shots to get the win for Florida.
Jamie Benn led the Dallas attack with two goals with Remi Elie finding the back of the net in the second period for a 3-2 lead. Alexander Radulov logged a pair of helpers with Kari Lehtonen making 26 stops as Dallas picked up a point.
The San Jose Sharks look to keep the wins rolling in when the Florida Panthers take the ice at the SAP Center on Thursday night. San Jose has won six of even following a 2-1 road win versus the Los Angeles Kings.
Defense dominated this one until the Sharks offense finally got going in the third period. The LA Kings took a 1-0 lead on a power play goal off the stick of Dustin Brown at 8:30 of the opening period on assists from Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty.
That goal held up until the third period when the Sharks Melker Karlsson scored at 5:42.Joel Ward scored the game winner for San Jose at 12:50 which was enough to make the 26 save performance of Martin Jones a winning performance.
Over is 5-0 in Panthers last 5 Thursday games and Panthers are 0-4 in their last 4 games following a win and over is 5-0 in Panthers last 5 vs. Western Conference. Under is 8-1 in Sharks last 9 overall and Sharks are 6-1 in their last 7 overall and Sharks are 1-5 in their last 6 Thursday games. Panthers are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in San Jose and road team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
The Panthers have done well in this matchup but in reality these teams don’t see each other often. I’ll back the red hot Sharks and wait for goalie confirmation…
