The Sharks look to add another to the win column on home ice as they welcome the slumping Predators to town.
The Nashville Predators had been the league's most feared team throughout a large chunk of the season but their tailspin over the last few weeks has them falling out of contention for the President's Trophy and they run the risk of relinquishing their division lead as well. The Predators to me are a team that smashed the books early in the year as many expected them to be a middle of the pack group but afte they took the league by storm obviously the lines started to go in their favour and now as the season winds down we see them getting leveled out a bit as is the case here as they head into San Jose as road dogs in a game they need to win to save their confidence. The Predators haven't necessarily been playing that badly they just haven't been able to catch many breaks and their offense has run dry which is a huge concern moving towards the postseason.
The Sharks meanwhile are trying to claw their way into a playoff spot as they sit four back of a wild card berth and five back of the third place Calgary Flames and with the season drawing near a close they know it's now or never. San Jose is still a talented group and on paper should be in the Western Conference playoffs but they have never been able to put it all together and perhaps missing the playoffs would be the catalyst behind a full on rebuild that the team could benefit from greatly. Nonetheless, San Jose is in a good spot here as the Preds have been tough to watch of late and while the price on the visitors is enticing I think the Sharks get it done.
