The San Jose Sharks look to defend home ice and advance to the Western Conference Final as they host the Nashville Predators in game seven on Thursday.
The Predators look to pull off their second straight game seven road win in California after ousting the Anaheim Ducks at the Honda Center in the first round and they will have to play flawlessly once again if they’re going to pull off the upset and advance to the Western Conference Final. The Preds looked great in their game six victory after looking like a complete mess in their game five thrashing but that has been the story of these Predators in the playoffs as they have looked paltry on the road at times and like Cup contenders at home but once again they are looking for a pivotal road win against a very good team at home. Pekka Rinne will get he call in the Nashville crease as he goes up against Martin Jones who has started every game for the Sharks thus far.
The Sharks are in a familiar position as they play in a game seven show down on home ice but this time they have had to battle tooth and nail all series in what has been a back and forth affair between two teams looking for their first Stanley Cup title. San Jose has long been the story of futility in the NHL playoffs as they have had numerous opportunities to achieve hockey’s pinnacle but have fallen short each and every time with each subsequent departure even more heart breaking than the last. San Jose though looks different this season as they have rallied from adversity and while it looked like they had this one in the bag after their game five domination I look for them to close it out here in a game seven classic.
