The Sharks look to rebound after a heartbreaking triple overtime loss in Nashville on Thursday night as they return home for a pivotal show down in game five.
The Nashville Predators did an excellent job playing their way back into their series with the San Jose Sharks as they answered the bell on home ice and took both outings that has evened the series and now made this a best of three show down with a spot in the Western Conference final on the line. The Predators don’t have a ton of flash in the offensive zone but have more than enough depth and instinct to get it done when things matter most and if they can find a way to steal a game on the road over the next three contests they have a very good shot at pulling off the upset and moving one step closer to a Stanley Cup title. Pekka Rinne continues to get the call in the Nashville crease as he will face off against Martin Jones.
The Sharks had ample opportunity to split the two matches in Nashville but instead they dropped both and are now on even terms against a Predators side that wasn’t expected to emerge out of the first round and now has a very real shot at moving into the third. San Jose though has shown resiliency all season long and look like a different group than we have seen in year’s past and now that they’re back on home ice I think we will see a better showing from them and it is clear the odds makers agree. San Jose has yet to put up a dominating effort in this series and I think we see it here in what should be a comfortable final for the deeper team.
